BlackPine studio
logo design
New logos and business cards were designed for video and photography company, BlackPine Studio, with the goal of attracting corporate and creative clients. Explore the creative process behind this project below.

This collection of images draws on motifs from photography, videography, and nature. Iconography, creative logo design, stylizations from traditional and contemporary Indigenous and Canadian art, and the Austrian and Japanese Black Pines took priority throughout the design process.

Each design aims to represent BlackPine Studio in its services, name, and history. Blending photography and videography, black pines, travel, and community, the initials “B” or “P,” are hidden in most designs.

For each design, texture and detail were considered during the revision process, drawing on nature, woodcut, and lino cut printmaking to reinforce natural and technical motifs. Serif and sans-serif fonts were paired with creative logos, these to interest both corporate and creative audiences.

From the base font, Warbler Display, character shapes were revised to incorporate design elements within the icon and the font Inknut Antiqua. Colours were finalized to be compatible with preexisting web branding and print.

solution
Inspired by Cree artwork and the company namesake, the final logo combines round, natural elements with a camera lens. The accompanying business cards read as modern and professional, using photography from the founder as a backdrop.
